Malevolence troubleshooting

Before You Start

Follow Malevolence instructions first. If the loader shows a specific error and fix, follow that prompt. For a one-off error, fully close the game and loader and try again. If needed, restart your PC before retrying.

Menu Missing or No Visuals

  1. Allow up to one minute for the menu to appear.
  2. Press INSERT to open the menu. If everything was hidden with END, press END again.
  3. Confirm the game is in Borderless Fullscreen / Windowed Fullscreen and that you did not change graphics settings after loading.
  4. Fully close the game, loader, and game launcher. Reopen the launcher as administrator, open the loader normally, click Load, and wait for “Please open {Game_Name}” before starting the game.

Game Crashing or Freezing

  • Fully close MedalTV, Xbox app, RivaTuner, OBS, and other capture tools using Task Manager before loading Malevolence. If you want to use them, reopen them only after the in-game menu appears.
  • Check that antivirus or other security software is not interfering.
  • Try loading without a saved configuration.
  • DayZ and Arma Reforger: The default_save configuration loads automatically. With the game and loader closed, temporarily move or rename it in %localappdata%\Configurations\{Game_Name}, then try again. Keep a backup so you can restore it.
  • Escape from Tarkov: Disable Automatic RAM Cleaner in the game's settings. If the game freezes while entering or leaving a raid, avoid tabbing out or repeatedly clicking the frozen window.

Scope Visuals Do Not Align

  • Arma Reforger: Enable Use 2D Scopes in the game's settings.
  • Unturned: Set Scope Quality to Off.

Apply graphics changes with Malevolence unloaded, then load again.

Status Code 22 / Incompatible Game Version

  1. Make sure the game is fully updated.
  2. For Steam games, select Default Public Version under Properties → Game Versions & Betas. Do not use beta or experimental builds.
  3. If the game has just updated, wait for Malevolence's compatibility update. Check Malevolence announcements for updates.

Normal game compatibility updates apply automatically. You do not need to download a new loader unless it specifically offers a loader update.

Loader Still Says “Please Open” After the Game Starts

Fully close the game, launcher, and loader using Task Manager. Retry in this order:

  1. Open the game launcher as administrator.
  2. Open the Malevolence loader normally.
  3. Select the product and click Load.
  4. Wait for “Please open {Game_Name}”.
  5. Start the game through its launcher.

For DayZ, follow the Steam and independent launcher notes in the setup guide.

Low FPS

Check the Performance options under Misc, where available. Hover over each option for its explanation. Close software that throttles or limits the game, then test again.

Recording Shows the Visuals

Unturned is not streamproof. The steps below apply only to products that support hiding visuals from recordings.

  1. Fully close the game and recording software using Task Manager.
  2. Load Malevolence and start the game following the setup guide.
  3. Wait until the Malevolence menu appears, then open the recording software.
  4. Capture only the game process or window, not the entire display.
  5. In OBS, disable Capture third party overlays.

Discord screen sharing is not guaranteed to hide the visuals.

Identity Mismatch

Sign in to your account at malevolencecheats.com and reset your identity, then try the loader again. If the error continues, contact support.

Login or Connection Problems

Connection errors can occur during maintenance. Check Malevolence announcements first.

For a forgotten username or password, or a connection that only works with a VPN while registration blocks VPN use, contact support for help.
