System Prep — Disable Windows Protections

Do these steps before downloading or running the loader.

  1. Disable Windows Defender (GUI):
  • Windows Search → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings → Turn off Real-time protection.
  1. Turn off Firewall:
  • Windows Search → Firewall & network protection → Turn Off for all three networks.
  1. Turn off Reputation-Based Protection:
  • Windows Search → App & browser control → Reputation-based protection settings → Turn Off all four options.
  1. Defender Control (full disable):
  • Download and unzip (password: sordum).
  • Run dControl.exe and choose Disable Windows Defender.
  1. Enable Discord legacy overlay
  • Download Discord
  • Click the gear icon next to your username to open User Settings
  • Go to Game Overlay
  • Turn on Enable Overlay if it is off
  • Turn on Enable legacy overlay

Recommended: HWID Spoofer

  • If you are using an HWID spoofer, spoof before injecting/launching the cheat — highly recommended.

How To Load

  1. Download the loader from rustloader.wtf.
  2. Run the loader as Administrator.
  3. Make sure Discord overlay is enabled for Rust in Registered Games
  4. Rust will automatically launch as long as you are logged into Steam.
  5. The menu / watermark should appear within a few seconds of the lobby.

Common Issues & Fixes

Windows Updates

Some loader/game issues are caused by recent Windows updates. If needed, uninstall them:

Error Codes

0xC000020F

  • Reload the loader.
  • Usually caused by high demand (e.g. during forcewipe).

0xC0000500

  • Try reinjecting several times.
  • If still failing, reinstall Windows.

NVIDIA Users

Failed to enable overlay

  • Open NVIDIA App → disable overlay → re-enable overlay.

Menu showing up behind the game window

  1. Open the game.
  2. Open NVIDIA App → toggle NVIDIA Overlay off and on.
  3. Close the game.
  4. Reload.

Radeon Users

Menu not showing after waiting in main menu

  • Open Overwolf.
  • Go to Overlay & Hotkeys → enable the Rust toggle.

Loader Issues

Loader closing while loading without opening game

  1. Generate a new loader and put it in its own folder.
  2. Uninstall & reinstall NVIDIA App → Download Here.
  3. Uninstall & reinstall Overwolf → Download Here.
  4. Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributables → Download Here.
  5. Reinstall DirectX End-User Runtimes → Download Here.
  6. Restart your PC and retry.

Final Notes

  • Always spoof first (if using a spoofer).
  • Keep overlays (NVIDIA, AMD, Discord) configured properly or disabled if causing conflicts.
  • Run everything as Administrator.
